My Impurities

My impurities, O LORD, condemn me.
They render me guilty before the blazing, unveiled brilliance of Your holiness.
For You, O LORD, are like unto the sun –
shining forth in strength and glory;
Your fullness of glory too radiant for me to lift my eyes upon.
Only in dim measures can I behold You –
with eyes sheltered by the clouds above.
Weep, o my soul, at your unrighteousness!
And cling to the Christ, who is your Redeemer.  Amen.

Anger

Ice dribbles through these veins;
   It is a stiffening madness that becomes me.
Would that this frost expire my adversaries.
   Their assault goes unrelenting.
   Hour by hour they pour upon my soul.
My breath will destroy their crops;
   Yea, all their land shall lay destitute-
   Never yielding her fruit!
I shall leave them – abandoned shall their last days be.
I shall not repose unless the Spirit aids me.
   So, come Lord Jesus. Come.

Omnipresent

Where ever I go,
Behold, Your eye.
When into the dark,
For You it is light.
When upon me sleep falls,
Awake You are.
When up to the heights,
You search my heart.
When down in the depths,
Your Spirit is there.
When still I stand,
Your presence is near.

A Profound Experience Of Glory

I have had such a profound experience of ecstasy and joy over the wonder and glory of God, that it was nearly impossible to express. Nevertheless, the supreme and utter worthiness of his being demanded my strained and feeble attempts to do so.

The grandeur of his nature, the supremacy of his love, the infinitude of his attributes, the eternality of his being, the profundity of his essence, the awe of his beauty, and the gravity of his mind have captivated me to the point of near shock.
I must cry out to my soul, “O my soul, bless the LORD! And all that is within me, bless his holy name!” Again, I must beg of my soul to use all its energy; every effort; and all its resources, in order to elevate itself as high as is possible to adore the glory of the Almighty.

He is so far above me – so highly exalted; my emotional range cannot traverse the apex of his magnitude. But O, how my soul longs to worship him; unbridled by the strains of my finiteness. For he is infinitely admirable – worthy of all honor and praise. O, who is like the LORD, that he would accept the praise of men? Too lowly are we to meet the standard of admiration his character demands. But alas, he has graced the beloved in Christ with his Spirit. Therefore, his groanings, which are too deep for words, can engage the majesty of God on a level that my imagination is too limited to explore. Amen! Praise the LORD!

The LORD Has Worked Salvation

Gracious and compassionate is the LORD that he would justify the ungodly.
For the LORD is holy and righteous in all his works.
His glory fills the heavens.

Nevertheless, we have exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for that of corruptible images.
We stand condemned before the throne of judgment.
And yet, we have not been consumed.

Day by day the sun rises over the sons of men, who have done nothing but evil continually before the face of the Almighty.
Who is he that he would endure such disobedience from man?
Is not his patience great?
His mercy far-abounding?
Indeed they are!

Praise his works, O you whom he has redeemed from all nations.
Praise his works, O you his creatures – fish of the sea and beasts of the land and birds of the air.
For he is God – your Maker and your Redeemer, who restores your life.

He has made righteous the guilty.
He has discharged the debt of sinners.
He has forgiven those who have transgressed the way.

All will answer before you, O LORD.
Your judgments are holy and just.
Blessed is the man who stands justified before you on that day.
They are covered in the grace of the Majesty.

To Thee, O LORD

To Thee, O LORD, I lift up praise;
Mine soul shall ever bless Thee.
And though these wretched sins doth raze
I know Thy Spirit helps me.
For Thou hast lifted from the pit
Mine, now, delivered soul.
And though with sinners I did sit
Thou washed me white as snow.

Always, then, shall I behold
The beauty of Thy face.
And tightly will I always hold
Thy mercy and Thy grace.

So get thee up mine soul and bless Him.
Praise Him! Praise His name!
And every voice in all creation
Adore Him just the same.
